In college I majored in Dance and Theater and after graduation, I started my professional life dancing and acting in New York City. I then moved into teaching dance and theater for The Lee Strasberg Institute and NYU.
When I earned my Master’s degree, I stayed on the path of dance and theater, but every elective I chose was a drawing class.
Eventually, overuse injuries from dance led me to practicing and eventually training to teach Pilates. I’ve been an instructor since 2002 and currently teach at Rolling Hills Club in Novato.
When my youngest daughter started college I wanted to take some drawing courses, which led to enrolling at Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts in Old Lyme, CT, where I fell in love with oil paints. I was and am still smitten with the process of mixing and remixing, and experimenting with application of oil on canvas.
I love figure painting in an interior setting. When models are scarce, I use photographs for inspiration. I always feel a sense of urgency to capture the moment that inspired me.
I hope my work speaks to you.
